Mushroom Festival Cookery Demonstrations
All this talk about mushrooms and now at last a chance to taste some!!
We have 2 types of demonstrations for visitors which are sure to delight everyone as they have done in previous years.
This year we have of course some Chinese chefs showing how to cook mushrooms Chinese style, and also our very popular resident local experts Michael and Jonathan who will give a separate demonstration using mushrooms and local meat produce.
These shows have been very popular every year, one because they are entertaining and interesting, and two because you get to join in and sample the food for free!
So come along, you never know you might even learn something. No need to book, just turn up and squeeze in.
The Pavilion Cafe at the Forth Inn (Free) - Sun 1.30pm and 3.30pm
Join Michael Clayton (Head Chef Forth Inn) and Jonathan Honeyman (The Aberfoyle Butcher) at the Pavilion cafe for a demonstration of Chinese cooking using wild mushrooms and fresh pork.
Master butcher Jonathan will show how best to cut and serve pork and other joints and will be happy to answer any questions you have. He has run his own family business for 20 years and regularly demonstrates for Quality Meat Scotland and has even supplied and prepared Venison for the Queen's Birthday Lunch in 2008.

Michael has been the head chef at the Forth Inn for a number of years and has a fine reputation for the food he and his team produce on a daily basis. This year Michael will produce a dish specially devised for the Chinese theme of The Mushroom Festival. He will talk you through all the steps of preparation and cooking and may even let you join in!
Afterwards, he and Jonathan will pass round the dishes for you to try and copies of the recipe will be available to take away. He is not divulging the recipe yet, so HERE is a copy of one of his recipes from last years Festival.
This is an entertaining way to spend an hour or so and tea, coffee and cakes will be available in the Pavilion Cafe.
