Outdoor Fun at the Trossachs Mushroom Festival

Crafty Raft Race (spectators £1) - 2pm Sun 24th Oct - Loch Ard *This event is cancelled*

Join in the fun or just come and watch  as teams compete to construct and race their own improvised rafts on Loch Ard. This is a lot of fun to watch and so far we have 7 teams lining up to compete on the day.There are prizes for the winning teams who are able to build, launch and race their raft made only from improvised materials.

This event is being run by Go Country who are situated at the Forest Hills Water Complex on Loch Ard just 4 miles from Aberfoyle.

If you would like to enter a team the rules and entry form are  here . Send it with the consent form to Go Country at the address on the form. This is great fun so get a team together and enter.

Free Family Barbeque at the Scottish Wool Centre (Free) - Sat & Sun 12 noon

The Scottish Wool Centre in Aberfoyle is the venue for a FREE family barbeque on Sat and Sun of the Festival.

No matter the weather the fun will go on so pop along and enjoy a free lunch with the kids and maybe take a browse aroung the large shop whilst your there. The barbeque will go on as long as stocks last to first come first served.

Don't dismay if you miss it, as the Centre also has a very nice cafeteria inside the building.

All the meat is being supplied by The Aberfoyle Butcher so you are  assured of a quality lunch and its completely free as a small thank from the Festival Committee for attending the festivities. Enjoy!

Outdoor Bowling Bonanza (£5 per person) Sat 23rd Oct 1pm

The very picturesque setting of Aberfoyle Bowling Club is the venue for an all afternoon session of outdoor bowls. Don't worry if you have never played before as plenty of tuition and help will be on hand .

This is a very relaxing game and this is one of the most scenic greens around so come along join in for a great bit of fun and some gentle exercise. All money raised will go to the club for maintainence and refreshments will be included in the afternoon. Lunch will also be avilable in the Strathart Exhibition taking place next door in the memorial hall.

But be warned, its not as easy as it looks! All you need are flat shoes and children over 10 years are most welcome. Use the contact us page to book a place in advance or telephone John on 01877 382276 but you can also just turn up and give it a try. We have a wet weather programme should the greens be unusable with Petanque in the sand adjacent to the club.

Learn Ceilidh Dancing (£5 per person) - Sun 24th Oct 1pm

Aberfoyle Bowling Club is also the venue for Learning Ceilidh Dancing. Nobody need feel left out at a Ceilidh again!

Whether residents needing a few dances to impress friends, or visitors absorbing some local culture, this afternoon event is for you.
Our Trossachs area dance instructor and his team will take you from the very first steps through to joining-up the moves so that within a few hours most people will be able to take part in the family Ceilidhs which provide the foundation of our evening entertainment..
 

For beginners, we'll concentrate on the patterns of several dances rather than the toe-pointing stuff of Highland Games and The Edinburgh Tattoo - aiming to simply have fun in good company.

Country dances are also now proven to be the best form of exercise and a major force against a range of health problems. There is no better chance of learning something new and light refreshments will be included, with all money going to a charitable cause.
Also lunch is available at the Strathart exhibition in the Memorial Hall situated beside the Bowling Club. Booking is the same as for the bowling event but please book early as the clubhouse size is limited!
